Introduction
The CREPS (Centre of resources, expertise and sports performances ) of Poitou Charentes is a public institution under the supervised authority of the State ruled by the decree n° 2011-630 published on June 3rd 2011. It is a government enterprise with its own financial and legal autonomy.
The two main missions of the CREPS :
Governance
The governance administration of the CREPS as a public institution is held jointly by two entities :
· the governing board, an assembly which define the actions to be implemented
· the director of the CREPS, who manages the CREPS and is involved in governing board as a consultant.
Background
In 1945, right after WW2, a national reform was set up to reorganise sports and physical activities in France. Hence, different local education authorities opened the CREPS ( regional centre of sports and physical education ) replacing the CREGS created in 1941.
Situation
The CREPS is located in Vouneuil sous Biard, ( 4 758 inhabitants ) in the urban community of Grand Poitiers, 1h30 from Paris by TGV ( high speed train ), 5 minutes from Biard Airport, near A10 exit.
